Stamping
As fresh concrete starts to set, follow these easy 6 steps.
1) A color hardener is applied by hand, broadcast over the entire area
to be stamped - this color is the primary color for your new stamped
concrete.
2) This color is “bull floated” into the concrete.
3) The Secondary color or release agent is now added to prior to stamping.
4) Now interlocking stamps are used one by one to create the desired
effect.
5) Once the entire has been stamped, special smaller stamps are used to
properly finish the edges.
6) After the concrete has fully dried and the forms have been removed,
the surface is properly rinsed, dried and then sealed.
Acid Staining
Acid staining is completed on fully dried or existing concrete. Acid
staining is an interesting chemical reaction that replaces part of the
lime in the concrete with the metal that is in the acid stain. This
staining process can use multiple colors along with special chemical
releasing agents to create stunning results to your concrete. First
and most important stage is prepping the concrete. This may include
several steps depending on how old your concrete is, if it has been
sealed in the past, is greasy and dirty from a restaurant enviroment,
etc.
Concrete Polishing
Concrete polishing is an interesting way to beautify your concrete while
increasing its ability to resist stains, water increase its surface strength
along with a variety of other options. Concrete is actually weakest at
the surface which can a dust problem in warehouses. By polishing the concrete
to varying degrees of smoothness we can create varying degrees of stain
protection and increased surface strength.
Concrete Engraving
Concrete engraving can be used on its own to create a certain logo or
artwork design on your concrete. It is often though used as a tool to
enhance on or more of the decorative concrete options available. Various
tools are used for engraving depending on the desired results. Engraving
can be used for creating grout lines and make your designer concrete look
more tile like. The engraving can be filled in with grout just like a
tile job would be. Engraving can be done before or after an acid staining
job, to create varying designer concrete results.
Water-Born Epoxy Coloring / Painting
Concrete painting uses specially designed paints to create virtually anything
you can on a canvas, onto concrete. Once the concrete is sealed and as
long as the proper seal is maintained, the designer concrete painting
will remain just as the say was painted.
Exposed Aggregates
Exposed aggregate is a rather simple process by which a special chemical
is sprayed onto freshly poured concrete. This chemical prevents just
the surface level of concrete from hardening. Once the concrete has
cured, this area will be hosed off exposing the aggregates in the concrete
itself. Often times this process is used with a border of some kind
to create an effect that there are different types of concrete poured,
when in fact it is the same pour. Creative ideas - by taking and stamping
a red brick pattern as your border and exposed aggregate the middle
portions, you will have a very attractive looking driveway or back patio
area.
Solid Colored Concrete
Solid coloring is another rather simple process that by itself or combined
with other designer concrete methods, can have stunning results. When
the concrete is being mixed special coloring is added to the mix. Advantage
with this is ling term, not short term. In the event of any cracking,
chipping, scratching of the surface of your concrete, even 10-20 years
later, your concrete will be the same color all the way through. When
concrete is stained, stamped, or painted, those colors are surface colors
only.
